What equipment do I need to have?
Equipment is provided for players, including helmets, pads, socks and mouthguards. A $350 deposit cheque is required before the equipment is issued. The cheque will be returned upon the return of the equipment, clean and in good condition.
- Players need to supply their own footwear. Cleats are preferred. Either soccer or football style cleats are acceptable.
Does the football season conflict with the kids' hockey season?
The football schedule does not have many conflicts with the hockey schedule. Hockey evaluation weekend tends to be the time of most conflicts. We ask that players prioritize based on whether the day is a practice or a game, and the point in the season (early vs playoffs) if such a conflict occurs.
When are the games and practices?
Practices: Days and times of practices are set by the individual teams. Generally, there are three weeknight practices between 6:30pm-8:30pm.
Games: Beginning in mid-August, teams will have one game each week, usually on Saturday or Sunday during the day.
Where are the games and practices?
Novice and Atom teams will have practices at a designated grass field in St.Albert.
PeeWee and Bantams will have practices and home games on our home field at Larry Olexiuk Field. Away games are hosted by our opposing teams in the greater Edmonton area.
What about the summer schedule?
July is our Summer Break. There are no formal on-field events during that month. We respect family vacation time too, and appreciate that some families travel in the month of August. We ask that you remember this can be a critical time in team development and player learning, and try to attend as many practices as possible.
Do you play in the rain?
Generally, football is played in any and all weather. We have two exceptions to this; if the city closes the fields due to their condition, or if there is lightning in the area.
Note: it has happened that practices are cancelled or cut short due to stormy weather or lightning. Please be sure to check your team practice schedule, and have arrangements in place to pick up your player early if required.
